Project Phoenix _VR Exploration Game

Game Description:

Set ten years from now, where AI has made subtle yet significant advances, players will experience a deeply personal and emotionally charged story. The protagonist, Alex Mercer, is a grieving partner overwhelmed by loss, whose life takes a surreal turn with the help of a cutting-edge AI service.

In a world confined to an apartment suite, players will engage in minor tasks and solve puzzles while making critical choices that shape the narrative. As Alex interacts with a virtual AI version of his deceased partner, Emily, through voice calls, he must navigate the thin line between reality and memory. The game's story unfolds through these poignant conversations, with themes inspired by "Detroit: Become Human" and Japanese visual novels.

Players will find themselves in a vividly detailed apartment, each element a metaphor for Alex's inner turmoil. A photograph and phone serve as conduits to the past, a model ship hints at the philosophical debate of the "Ship of Theseus," and the bright window symbolizes both hope and constraint. As the narrative progresses, Alex's reality unravels, leading to a gripping climax where the true nature of his existence is revealed.

Project Phoenix offers multiple endings, influenced by the player's decisions regarding "dependence level" and "transference level." With an O. Henry-style twist, players will discover that Alex is not just a mourner but a digital echo, raising profound questions about identity and existence.

Prepare to immerse yourself in a hauntingly beautiful and thought-provoking experience, where every choice echoes through the corridors of memory and every interaction unveils another layer of truth. Welcome to Project Phoenix – where the past and future converge, and reality is but a fleeting illusion.

With immense gratitude, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the development of Project Phoenix. The success of this project would not have been possible without the dedication and exceptional contributions of each team member.

Psychological Safety

Psychological Safety

I have experienced a wide variety of collaborations, both enjoyable and frustrating, in different groups during my foundation course, and I have always approached these collaborations with humility and openness. After experiencing these collaborations, I realized that for me the best way to reach a sense of inner security is to have an aligned goal with your group members while trusting in each other's abilities and accountability, which is where I want to go for self-improvement in my future endeavors.

Sharing this reflective record in a blog serves as a reminder of these invaluable collaborative experiences, both in my work group and in my graduate group. This record not only empowers me as an individual, but also adds depth and narrative to my work. It reflects the challenges and growth I have experienced as a designer and team member.

Blender tutorial: How to convert 2D images into 3D models

Blender Tutorial 2024/2/20

In this 5-minute video, I show how to convert 2D graphics into 3D models in Blender by demonstrating how to add thickness and texture to flat application icon images.

This technique is not only useful for creating realistic user interfaces, but also for 3D printing or VR modeling. In addition, by simply adding textures and lighting effects, this handy skill can help designers enrich and diversify their 2D work for a wider range of graphic design applications.

Someone suggested me remove the background behind the portraits in future videos, which would allow the viewer's attention to be better focused on the tutorial content. I am now working on a new short instructional video and will take this suggestion in the future!
